Lexi & Logan’s Wedding at The Olmsted Louisville

Weddings

Lexi and Logan’s wedding at The Olmsted in Louisville was everything I love about photographing weddings.

Beautiful weather, the sweetest couple, and a day filled with so much joy from beginning to end.

From the moment I arrived, I knew this was going to be one of those wedding days that simply flowed. The sunshine was perfect, the flow of the day stayed relaxed, and every part of the celebration reflected who these two are as a couple. From heartfelt vows to an unforgettable surprise from Louie the Cardinal at the reception, it was such an honor to document their day.

Photographing weddings is so much more than showing up with a camera. I truly care about my couples, and by the wedding day, it feels like I’m celebrating friends. Being trusted with these memories is never something I’ll take lightly, and I pour my whole heart into documenting the moments you’ll treasure for the rest of your life.

Why Couples Love The Olmsted

The Olmsted in Louisville has become one of the city’s most loved wedding venues. Originally built between 1925 and 1927 as Johnson Hall for the Masonic Widows and Orphans Home, the building has been restored while preserving its historic charm. Today, it’s recognized as one of the premier historic wedding venues Louisville, KY has to offer, blending timeless architecture with exceptional service.

Family-owned and operated by the Masterson family, The Olmsted wedding venue has welcomed more than a thousand Louisville couples as they begin married life together. Their team is committed to making every wedding experience feel incredible, from the in-house catering to attentive service that allows couples to simply relax and enjoy the moment.

Between the beautiful architecture, spacious ballroom, gorgeous natural light, and experienced staff, couples can truly be present instead of worrying about the details.

The Sweetest Summer Wedding Day

The weather couldn’t have been more beautiful, and having sunshine all day meant we were able to take full advantage of the gorgeous grounds surrounding the venue. We spent time capturing portraits beneath the mature trees before the ceremony, and I loved watching these two soak it all in together before the excitement of the day really began.

The bride looked absolutely stunning in her classic satin gown, while her bridesmaids wore elegant black dresses paired with lush white and green bouquets. The groom and his groomsmen looked just as sharp in classic black tuxedos, and together they created such a timeless wedding day aesthetic.

A Unity Ceremony Filled with Love

Inside The Olmsted Louisville, family and friends gathered beneath the gorgeous chandeliers and oversized arched windows to witness these two promise forever to one another.

As the bride walked down the aisle, you could feel the excitement and emotion throughout the room. There were tears, laughter, and so many sweet glances exchanged between the couple as they stood hand in hand, surrounded by the people who love them most.

While the first kiss is always a moment worth celebrating, it’s often the little moments throughout the ceremony that become my favorites. The reassuring squeeze of a hand, the proud smiles from parents in the front row, and the quiet looks shared between two people realizing they’re finally husband and wife are the memories that tell the real story of a wedding day.

Those are the moments I feel so honored to preserve.

Portraits Around The Olmsted Louisville Wedding Venue

After the ceremony, we wandered back outside for portraits while guests made their way toward cocktail hour.

One of the reasons I love photographing at The Olmsted in Louisville is that everything is right there. We never had to leave the property to find beautiful portrait locations, which meant these two were able to spend less time traveling and more time celebrating with the people they love.

If you’re browsing The Olmsted photos while planning your own wedding, you can see why so many couples fall in love with this place. Some of my favorite photographs from the day came during these quieter moments together. Just two newlyweds finally getting a few minutes to quietly celebrate the fact that they were husband and wife.

A Reception Full of Joy

As guests entered the reception, the ballroom was glowing with natural light pouring through the grand windows.

The team at The Olmsted kept everything running so smoothly throughout the evening, Heartfelt toasts brought plenty of laughter and a few tears before everyone gathered around for the couple’s first dance.

Once the music started, the celebration never slowed down.

The dance floor stayed packed all night long. Friends, family, and guests of every age filled the room with so much energy, making it impossible not to smile while photographing every moment.

The cake cutting brought even more joy before everyone headed back to the dance floor for what turned out to be one of the biggest surprises of the night.

The Best Surprise of the Evening

Since the bride and groom are both huge University of Louisville fans, they had one more surprise planned.

Louie the Cardinal made an appearance at the reception!

The second Louie walked into the room, guests immediately started laughing, cheering, and reaching for their phones. Watching everyone’s reactions was just as much fun as photographing Louie dancing with the newlyweds.

It’s personal touches like this that make The Olmsted wedding feel so unique. Every couple brings something different to their celebration, and I love seeing those little pieces of their story woven throughout the day.

Ending the Night with a Bubble Exit

As the evening came to a close, everyone gathered outside for one final celebration.

The grand staircase outside The Olmsted made the perfect setting for a bubble exit as family and friends lined the steps, cheering the newlyweds on while bubbles floated through the warm summer air.

It was such a joyful way to end an incredible day, and one I’ll remember for a long time.
